2.6.1 Introduction to Capacitors
Course subject(s)
Module 2: Electricity & magnetism
In this unit we will look at capacitors. Capacitors can be used as sensors. Whether it is measuring fuel level in a plane, detecting moisture in the air, or saving lives by deploying an airbag during a crash; the capacitor plays an essential role in our modern life. Their most common use however, is their ability to store large amounts of energy, a critical part in the world’s transition to renewable energy. With the introduction to electronic circuits completed, the next step is to understand the basics and applications of this battery-like component.
