3.1.1 Introducing Quantitative Research Methods

Course subject(s) Module 3. Research Method Selection & Study Design

Computer showing Tables and Graphs of Numerical dataDo you know the difference between correlational research and experimental research? These are two types of research methods of Quantitative Research. In this section, you will learn about Quantitative Research: What it entails and how to go about conducting research.

Quantitative research deals with data that are in numerical form, or data that can be converted into numerical form. One example is time measured by hours, minutes, seconds or milliseconds. Another example is opinions that are measured through questionnaire, such as getting individuals to rate their level of satisfaction.

We will also discuss what independent and dependent variables are as well as the different scales of measurement. Finally, we will discuss experimental design in Quantitative Research.
