Introduction

In this block, we will look at operating models beyond individual firms. We will look into how networked enterprises deal with value exchange, information and knowledge sharing and operational processes based on the VIP framework and alternative approaches, like the activity diagram, E3 value model, ARIS model and the deadly waste approach. Some important questions to ask yourself while using the VIP framework are:

Who is responsible for value exchange? What information is shared and required by whom?

Who has authority over what part of the process?

Based on these questions, you will find that the value creation and capturing, information generation and access, process interoperability and accessibility is all dependent on the interaction and dependencies between stakeholders
