3.1.2 Renew as a Circular Strategy

Renewables are materials used in packaging sourced from renewable sources, as opposed to materials sourced from fossil origins. For instance, currently most food packaging is produced from plastics made from fossil oil. Examples of renewable packaging materials are cardboard and cotton from which the plant-based raw materials can be regrown. Plastics made from renewable materials, such as cornstarch or seaweed, exist too and these have been getting a lot more attention lately.
