3.5.1 Introduction to Travelling waves

Course subject(s) Module 3: Waves

In this age of innovation, we humans are not made to constantly realise and appreciate the insane complexity of all the technology that we have created.

A smartphone that connects to the whole world is something that we have gotten used to, making us unaware of all the underlying physics principles that have created these possibilities. When we send a message our device emits an electromagnetic pulse with a certain frequency range, encoded with our information, across the land that is then received and transformed into a light signal on another screen.

This is just one example of the result of our understanding of travelling waves! In this unit you will learn the physics behind multiple forms of travelling waves.
