Technologies offer opportunities, yet at the same time, (known and unknown) risks. In this module, we discuss how to embed safety into an innovation project and in the culture of the company.

To structure the learning and discussion, the learning objectives and content for this module is as follows:

• • Understand the importance of safe innovations in relation to Responsible Research and Innovation (Section 4.2).
  • Learn and get inspired by case studies on how to implement safety thinking in your business, policies and/or innovation projects (Section 4.3, Interviews with reflections on safety and safety regulations in nanotechnology and unmanned aircraft).
  • The importance of a safety culture (section 4.4)
