4.1.1 Types of communication: Introduction

Course subject(s) Module 4. Communication

communicating

Engineers play an important role in shaping and influencing contemporary society. Communication about potential negative influences (e.g. health and safety risks) of engineering projects and products as well as an open debate about the way we want to use technologies is crucial in a democracy. For instance, do the products brought to market actually meet societal needs, and do developers know what the general public values? Answering such questions require communication, which will be the topic of this learning unit. We will explore why and how engineers should communicate about their work.
