4.1.3 Reading Material Clustering

Course subject(s) Module 4: Clustering: Global Housing Design

Clustering strategies were not invented by architects. In fact, it has been a feature with a long-standing presence in the architecture without architects. Vernacular architecture has been an important source of inspiration for housing design. To learn more about this process of transference of knowledge, we invite you to read a small piece written by Raj Rewal, an important Indian architect.

Rewal, Raj. Asian Olympic Village, Delhi. In Designing in Islamic Cultures 5: Large Housing Projects. Margaret Bentley Sevcenko, (ed). Cambridge, Massachusetts: Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture, 1985.
