Open data is defined as:

“Data that anyone can access, use or share”

It allows you to (re)use existing data sources for your own (scientific) research. Please be aware that you must also consider the ethical implications of how your data can be used by others before freely releasing your data.

Increasingly more funding agencies are requiring you to store your data as Open Data after your research.
