Module 4. Data Collection & Analysis
Before applying any statistical test, it is important to:
- First inspect the data and check that the levels of measurement assigned for each variable are appropriate.
- Select the correct test for the type of variables and check assumptions.
Generally, we can distinguish between two types of statistics:
- Descriptive Statistics
- Inferential Statistics
Within Inferential statistics,
- Correlation tests examine the relationship between two variables and
- Statistical hypothesis testing enables us to examine whether the likelihood of differences (measured by the means) between groups are due to chance.
