Digvijay Gusain

Digvijay Gusain

Digvijay Gusain is a Postdoctoral researcher on Intelligent Electrical Power Grids at the Department of Electrical Sustainable Energy, TU Delft, The Netherlands. His main and current research interests are co-simulation and control of multi-energy systems. One of the important themes in his works involves using open source tools such as OpenModelica and Python as much as possible.

He obtained his Ph.D. from TU Delft in 2021 for his work on simulations and optimization of wind power, power-to-gas, and power-to-heat technologies in collaboration with the Port of Rotterdam. He completed his Master’s at TU Delft in the department of electrical sustainable energy, working on creating a metaheuristic optimization algorithm for parameter identification of dynamic equivalents for active distribution networks. He has also worked with Electric Power Research Institute, USA, to develop tools and methods for hosting capacity analysis for distribution networks.

Areas of Expertise:

  • Energy flexibility
  • Co-simulation of multi-carrier grids
  • Optimization and control
  • Distribution networks

Milos Cvetkovic

Milos Cvetkovic

Milos Cvetkovic is an assistant professor at the Delft University of Technology, in the Electrical Sustainable Energy department. He is a specialist in the modeling and simulation of energy systems with a particular focus on electricity grids. His research spans short-term modeling and simulation for control and operation of energy systems to long-term decision-making models for planning purposes.

Before joining Delft University, Milos was a postdoctoral researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA, where he developed new market mechanisms for engaging prosumers in the electricity ecosystem. He obtained his Ph.D. and MSc degrees from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA.

Milos is active in several Dutch national and European projects which have focused on integrating more renewable energy into our electricity grids. Some of these projects develop smart controllers for renewable energy resources, others design new market mechanisms.

Areas of Expertise:

  • Energy Storage
  • Smart Power Grids
  • Renewable Energy Resources
  • Simulations of Electricity Grids

Jose Rueda Torres

Jose Rueda Torres

José Rueda Torres is an associate professor for Intelligent Electrical Power Grids at the Department of Electrical Sustainable Energy, TU Delft, The Netherlands. His current research interests include power system reliability, modeling for stability studies (off-line and real-time digital simulation), optimal control design (local and wide-area), dynamic vulnerability assessment, system identification, probabilistic and artificial intelligent methods, HVDC and FACTs devices, and renewable energy technologies.

He received the Electrical Engineer Diploma (cum laude) from Escuela Politécnica Nacional, Quito, Ecuador in 2004. In 2009, he received a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering (mark: outstanding) from the National University of San Juan.

In July 2017, he was elected as chairman of the Working Group on Modern Heuristic Optimization (WGMHO) under the IEEE PES Analytic Methods in Power Systems (AMPS) Committee. He was vice-chair of the WGMHO between July 2014 and July 2017. Since August 2017, he is an associate editor of the Swarm and Evolutionary Computation Journal (Elsevier). Since October 2017, he is a member of the Technical Committee on Power and Energy Systems of IFAC (International Federation of Automatic Control). He is a member of the Colegio de Ingenieros Eléctricos y Electrónicos de Pichincha (CIEEPI), a member of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE), and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Areas of Expertise:

  • Power Electronics
  • Power System Reliability & Stability
  • Optimal Control Design
