5.1.1 Learning objectives

Course subject(s) Module 5. Virtual Research Environments (optional) Attributions

After module 4 you know a lot about Open Science, Open Data and Open Access. But if you want to master these topics even more and gain in-depth insight into how researchers can be supported maximally to practice Open Science principles, you should definitely follow the optional  fifth module of this course. You can also choose to follow it partly and select the elements that you find most interesting.

This week consists of 5 video lectures:

  • introduction to Virtual Research Environments (VREs)
  • what is a Virtual Research Environment
  • multidisciplinary collaboration through VREs
  • analysing open data in VREs and the influence of VRE’s on policy making
  • trustable computing in open science

In the optional fifth assignment you will find and describe a particular Virtual Research Environment, and analyze motivations for sharing and using research data through Virtual Research Environments.
