5.1.2 Rethinking packaging

Course subject(s) Module 5. Rethinking packaging

Throughout this course we have shown recycling, renewable materials, and reuse as cycling strategies to create sustainable packaging systems. We have looked at examples of these strategies in practice and discussed why we regard them as circular strategies.

Rethinking is not a cycling strategy. Rethinking is a way to look at your product and envision a sustainable alternative for its packaging that takes its entire lifecycle into account. It can be used as a method to improve your current design, to choose one of the cycling strategies or to completely redesign an existing packaging solution, your product and even its business model.

So keep in mind all the things you’ve learned so far and get ready to zoom out.
