5.1.3 Laminar flow of Newtonian fluids

Course subject(s) 5. Laminar flow

Welcome to a new week of Advanced Transport Phenomena, are you looking forward to the subject ahead? This week, we are going to take a look at flow patterns, especially in the laminar flow region. You are going to learn how to solve systems with low Reynolds numbers for shear stress profiles and velocity profiles using microbalances.

We are mainly concerned with laminar flows, in this section, asĀ it is the most easy to solve. Turbulent flow is very hard to describe and is often approached using numerical methods. Do you still remember what the difference between turbulent and laminar flow was? What flow do we see in the image?
