Welcome to the second part of this week!

In the previous chapter, you’ve learned that there is an additional type of heat transfer: radiation. You’ve seen that bodies can emit radiation as well as reflect, transmit or absorb incoming radiation, and the theory behind this.

Now, it’s time to put this theory into practice. Think of an everyday example: the attic, just below the roof, can become extremely hot in the summer when the sun is shining. It is possible to calculate the absorption of the heat coming from the Sun beams and how this affects the temperature in the attic. But, how do you integrate the radiation term in a heat balance?
