Course subject(s)
Module 6. Track II – Circular solutions
The challenge of mastering the critical materials challenges sustainably can only be addressed if companies are able to develop business models which are based around circular strategies.
This module will summarize internal and external drivers for circular business strategies, which will allow you to reflect on circular economy principles: retaining value, slowing, closing and narrowing loops. The key outcome will enable a judgement to be reached on the links and applicability of circular business models to critical raw materials.
Read the following paper by Nancy M. P. Bocken, Ingrid de Pauw, Conny Bakker & Bram van der Grinten (2016):
Product design and business model strategies for a circular economy
The paper is quite long, so if you are already familiar with the circular economy concepts, you can focus on Chapter 2.3 “Circular business model strategies”. You don’t need to read all of it.
