Course subject(s) Module 7. Track III – Policy solutions

Welcome to the track “Policy Solutions”. The content of this module is spread over two parts. You will look at important policy aspects for tackling some of the resource challenges you learnt about before. We will start off with a lecture on mitigation strategies for criticality, where you will learn how to distinguish different approaches depending on goals and perspectives. In the first part, you will learn to identify solutions to environmental and social risks of mining activities through responsible mining. The first part finishes with an interview with a special guest from the European Commission, who will introduce the relevance of trade for critical raw materials.

In the second part, you will learn to recognise how certification can help improve social conditions in mining regions.  You will also be introduced to the relevance of critical raw materials for the sustainable development goals, and vice versa
