Introduction to Part 4: Thin Film Technologies

Course subject(s) Module 5. Thin Film Silicon

In part 4, which lasts three weeks, we discuss the most important thin film technologies.

In this thin film section, you will learn all about thin film silicon, chalcogenides like the II-VI technology cadmium telluride and the I-III-VI technology CIGS, the III-V technology gallium-arsenide and some organic pv technologies, like organic polymers, dye sensitized solar cells and perovskites.

Each of these technologies have their specific advantages and limitations in some respect. In this section, you will learn about the material properties and module architecture of all these pv technologies. We will also look at some special applications of these technologies and you will learn about the state of the art devices.
