Pre 1.1 Introduction
Course subject(s)
Pre-knowledge Mathematics
This unit allows you to review some concepts from statistics that will be used throughout the course. You may want to review this before the start of Module 1 of the EdX course “Observation Theory: Estimating the unknown”, but it is also designed as a convenient source of reference to be used throughout the course.
The topics are:
- Deterministic and random variables
- Histograms and probability density functions
- Mean and variance
- Normal distribution
You are expected to be familiar with these topics before Module 1.2 on Quality and Types of Errors.
