Pre 2.1 Introduction

Course subject(s) Pre-knowledge Mathematics

This section gives a review of the  basic elements of linear algebra and matrix theory. It is designed as a convenient source of reference to be used for the EdX course “Observation Theory: Estimating the unknown”.

In the following units, you will find information about five main topics:

  1. Vectors and Matrices
  2. Linear Combinations, Rank and Inverse
  3. Vector Spaces and Subspaces
  4. Euclidian Spaces, Norm, and Orthogonality
  5. Matrices and Linear Systems of Equations

You are expected to be familiar with topic 1 before Module 1.2 on Quality and Types of Errors; the other topics become relevant from Module 2 on Mathematical Models.
