Assistant Professor Auke Barnhoorn, PhD
Auke Barnhoorn is assistant professor of Applied Geophysics and Petrophysics at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences of TU Delft. Auke Barnhoorn teaches both bachelor and masters courses to the applied earth science students at TU Delft. His courses focus on the physical properties of rocks present in the subsurface of the earth. He uses experimental facilities to study the anisotropic properties of rocks combining geotechnical and acoustic measurements and 3D imaging of the rock structures. His research has applications in e.g. induced seismicity, geothermal energy, shale gas exploration and CO2 storage.
