Assistant Professor Jay Sau

Jay Sau is an assistant professor in the area of theoretical Condensed matter physics at the University of Maryland, College Park, USA. He is also a fellow of the Joint Quantum Institute and a member of the Condensed Matter Theory Center in Maryland.

Jay’s research focuses on modeling topological systems for realistic condensed matter applications and is strongly geared towards the topic of this course. In particular, Jay Sau was involved in predicting the appearance of Majorana modes in semiconductor nanostructures that subsequently led to the observation of signatures of Majorana modes by the Kouwenhoven group in Delft.
