3.2.2 Opportunity framing
Course subject(s)
3. Opportunity framing
This video focuses on opportunity framing: a structured approach to understanding and defining an opportunity or project. It is the starting point for a robust, decision-driven process for the realisation of the opportunity or project. For projects this is first of all setting the boundaries on what the project is and is not.
The essence of opportunity framing is to decide together with the main stakeholders what the project will include and what not will be included (very important!).
In addition opportunity framing in the later phases of the project can be about adding scope and (re)framing the project concept. Important at opportunity framing is the interaction with stakeholders to secure project success. The process of opportunity framing can be summarised in a very simple picture supported by a simple statement:
Where are we now, where do we want to be and how do we get there?
