3.1.1 What you’ll learn
Course subject(s)
Module 3. |B| Spatial design
So, what will this week about?
As you know, in the second, third and fourth week of the course we will talk you through three components which are crucial for enabling nature-based solutions, A service design, B spatial design and C business model and assessment.
Up next is spatial design. Spatial design is a broad term which many of you might relate to traditional design fields like architecture or interior design. It is true that the methodology and use of language is similar to the one used in these design specializations and spatial design is in fact very much related to the built environment but also serves the role of addressing the flow of people within this environment. Key notions of the spatial design discipline are space and place which will be explained in this week’s video.
Unfortunately, we will not manage to educate you as a designer in one week of this course but you will be able to understand the spatial dimension of nature-based solutions and to integrate nature-based solutions into a site-specific context.
By the end of this week of the course you will be able to
- Recognize the spatial dimension of nature-based solutions
- Differentiate site-specific elements
- Integrate nature-based solutions into a site-specific context
