Introduction to Data Collection
Data can be collected in a variety of ways: you can collect qualitative and quantitative data with many different methods for each. Questionnaires and interviews are very popular data collection methods described in a bit more depth but also simulations and classical experiments are important methods to consider.
When deciding on a data collection method you should take into account:
- the type of data you want to collect,
- the sampling approach
- how you collect the data, and
- ethical considerations on how to work with the data.
