Activities

Design projects

Design projects are presented for 6 different types of dredgers:

  • heavy duty backhoe dredger
  • heavy duty cutter suction dredger
  • offshore gravel dredger
  • dredger for the burrowing of industrial sand
  • trailing hopper suction dredger for large-scale reclamation projects
  • multi purpose trailing hopper suction dredger.

Each design poject is estimated at a work load of 320 hours.

1. The design of a heavy duty Backhoe Dredger (BHD).

In this design project the student is requested to draft a conceptual design of a Backhoe Dredger suitable for executing the specified dredging jobs.

2. The design of a heavy duty Cutter Suction Dredger (CSD).

In this design project the student is requested to draft a conceptual design of a trailer Cutter Suction Dredger suitable for executing the specified dredging jobs.

3. The design of an offshore Gravel Dredger

In this design project the student is requested to draft a conceptual design of a Gravel Trailer Suction Hopper Dredger suitable for executing the specified dredging jobs.

4. The design of a Dredger for the burrowing of industrial sand.

In this design project the student is requested to draft a conceptual design of a Dredger suitable for executing the specified dredging jobs.

5. The design of a Trailing Hopper Suction (TSHD) for large-scale reclamation projects.

In this design project the student is requested to draft a conceptual design of a trailer Suction Hopper Dredger suitable for executing the specified dredging jobs.

6. The design of a Multi Purpose Trailing Hopper Suction (TSHD)

In this design project the student is requested to draft a conceptual design of a trailer Suction Hopper Dredger suitable for executing the specified dredging jobs.
