There are many different types of research, each with their own merits, their own pros and cons, and most importantly, each with their own set of ‘rules’ on how such research must be carried out and its results interpreted. If you operate in a multi-disciplinary field it is important you are familiar with most of them, even though you will only specialise in one or two, as you may need outcomes from other studies outside your discipline as input in yours. In this video lecture, Gillian highlights some of the most important types of research.
