2.4.2. Historic agricultural landscapes
Water is a source of life that facilitates human activities. In the typical agricultural civilization of Asia, people used natural resources and shaped agricultural landscapes to feed themselves. The example of traditional rice terraces shows how water systems and agriculture connect with communities in both physical and spiritual dimensions.
In the next video, Tianchen presents a case that was prepared collectively with Lucija Ažman and Kaiyi Zhu: the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces. These are located in Yunnan, China, an area where nature and humans have intersected for centuries.
