3.3 Determinants of Innovation

Course subject(s) 3. How Innovations Come About

So now we know what innovations are and how to distinguish between different types of innovation. In this lecture by Prof Cees van Beers, we will see what determines successful technological innovation. In order to do so, we first have to say something about who are the actors that innovate, and understand their motivations.

Then we will look at how we can scale up innovations successfully. We will end this web lecture by focusing on the factors that influence the innovation performance of private profit-oriented firms (including organizational structure).

Before you start watching the web lecture, think a moment about ‘ where would I start’  if I want to develop and market an innovative product.
