3. Electromagnetic Actuators

Course subject(s) 3. Electromagnetic Actuators

In the electromagnetic actuators module the students will learn about electromagnetic actuators in two lectures. The subjects of electricity, electromagnetism and electromagnetic actuators will be discussed. At first the lecturer addresses electricity and electromagnetism. First the lecturer explains Ohm’s law and the rules of Kirchoff. After that the lecturer addresses the Maxwell equations for magnetics: Gauss law, Faraday’s law and Amperé’s law. The lecturer then discusses Hopkinson’s law, the equivalent of Ohm’s law for magnetics. Magnetic flux and magnetic energy are explained after that. Last, the lecturer discusses the effect of ferromagnetic material in combination with magnets.
In the second lecture of the Electromagnetic Actuators module the lecturer discusses the last parts of electricity and electromagnatism and continues with the different types of electromagnetic actuators.
