4.5.1 Milgro: helping companies with waste collection

Course subject(s) Module 4. Collection systems

Waste management companies mostly focus on waste collection of other companies for recycling, incineration and landfill. In this interview Ruud Hageman of Milgo B.V. in the Netherlands, explains how a company can regard its waste. Milgro helps companies to control and manage their waste as an untapped resource.

Main takeaways

  • Waste can be regarded as an unmanaged resource without any knowledge or control.
  • By measuring waste, it can be controlled and managed for prevention, re-use or recycling.
  • The first step in handling waste is to come in control of waste.
  • To collect waste the collection structure has to be flexible, should motivate the right behaviour, and should enhance the companiesā€™ identity.
