6.1.2 Introduction to alternative business models

Course subject(s) Module 6. New business models and circular procurement

Welcome to this sixth and last module. Another way of dealing with a shortage of critical raw materials is to lengthen the lifetime of a product or to use the product as much as possible in its lifetime. In both cases the amount of products (and therefore the amount of critical raw materials) necessary for the same function to perform is less than in the current case where products not always have a long life time or are bought and hardly used.

In this module we will focus on business models, sharing platforms and financing alternative business models. The transition to alternative business models can be started and stimulated by circular procurement. In this first video of the module Florence Betmont will introduce you to alternative business models.

Main takeaways

  • More sustainable business model may be a way to mitigate the issue of CRMs.
