6.3.1 Other applications

Course subject(s) Module 6: Various applications of a quantum internet

In this course we have shown a subset of promising applications of quantum computers and a quantum internet. At this point in time, we don’t know if we have made an adequate selection, but we will find out in the years or decades to come. In this last video of applications of quantum internet, Stephanie will explain other fields that might benefit from the quantum internet.

Main takeaways

  • Quantum communication has also shown to be very useful to solve cryptographic problems, e.g. secure identification and position verification.
  • Quantum communication is used to build up correlations in a network. Classical communication is still necessary to process the result and thus solve useful tasks.
  • All of these effects are due to two properties of entanglement, namely maximum coordination and inherent privacy.
