Lecture 6: Use Cues and Observational Research

Course subject(s) 6. Use Cues and Observational Research

The lecture about use cues and observational research is given by Stella Boess. The lecture introduces the concept of use-cues and discusses aspects of products that evoke certain expectations and usage. This concept is clarified by a number of product examples. Often it appears difficult to predict the actual product use by the user. Flaws and problems come to light when (observational) user research is performed. Observational research gives insight into the actual usage and might encourage the designer to reconsider the initial design.
