10. Materials and Manufacturing

Course subject(s) Structural Engineering Lectures

In this lecture Prof. J. Sinke talks about different types of materials and their properties. The categories that are discussed are metals, polymers, composites and ceramics. The second half of the lecture is dedicated to describing different manufacturing processes. For each manufacturing process working principles are discussed, characteristics, and limitations. Methods which are discussed are forging, casting and shearing.  For composites winding, lay-up and pultrusion are discussed.
