In this lecture Prof. Ir. B. Ambrosius discusses some important dates for spaceflight, touching on different manned and unmanned missions. He will briefly touch on the differences between spaceflight and aeronautics before talking about the space environment.

He will explain about the conditions found in space, ranging from temperatures to different forms of radiation. The second part of the lecture mostly focuses on the effects of weightlessness on moving objects.
