Lecture 2: Concepts and Theories
Course subject(s)
2. Concepts and Theories
Does technology development take place autonomously or is technology shaped by its social context? In other words: do engineers take the lead in technology development or do they have to do what society asks them to do? Special attention will be paid to the theory of social constructivism and the SCOT-model. The second half of the lecture will elaborate on socio-technical systems and introduce some new concepts: reverse salient, critical problem, regimes and push-pull debate.
