0. Welcome to the course Designing a Climate-Neutral World: Taking Action
Kornelis Blok is a professor of Energy Systems Analysis. He studied physics at Utrecht University and received a PhD degree in 1991. In 1984 he was one of the founders of Ecofys, now part of Navigant. He is a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and chairman of the Netherlands Energy Research Alliance (NERA). Blok’s lifelong research interest is the transition to 100% sustainable energy systems. Currently, the focus is on what can be achieved in the medium term (2030 – 2040) and how that transition can be accelerated.
Mirjam Harmelink is the manager of the Urban Energy Institute at the Delft University of Technology. She has been working in the field of climate change for over 25 years. Mirjam holds a Master’s degree in Technology and Innovation from the Technical University in Eindhoven. Prior to joining TU Delft, she worked as an independent researcher and project manager at Ecofys and the National Institute of Climate and Health in the Netherlands.
