Now that you have learned all about the course structure and have gotten to know your fellow students and us a bit better, let’s get started by diving into the content of our first module: Introduction to Research.

This module covers 5 topics:

  • Multidisciplinary Research
  • Structure of Research
  • Language of Research
  • What to Research?
  • Formulating a Research Objective and a Research Question

 

In this module we will lay the foundation and introduce some basic concepts and definitions, on which we will build over the next few modules. At the end of this module you will be able to:

    • able to describe what multi-disciplinary research is and place your own research within this field
    • describe the scientific method and the design cycle
    • explain the main terms in your research and your context
    • find a suitable topic to research,  find out more about a topic and how to find if it has not been done before
    • explain what a research objective and a research question are,
    • formulate a research objective and a research questions,
    • judge research questions and objectives as to their completeness
