Introduction to the Schieblock and Schiekadeblok case

We will start this module with an introduction to the case project. The case project we chose for this module is the Schieblock building. This building was on the list for demolishment, but a local architecture office decided to propose an initiative for the temporary adaptation for the building and direct urban area around it. The Schiekadeblok area in which the Schieblock building stands is a prominent location, right in the middle of the Rotterdam Central District, near main infrastructure links.

We will first start with a video tour of the Schieblock and the Schiekadeblok. Then we have some extra background reading material for you, which together will give you a good overview of the project and its context.
