3.1.1 Introduction to part 2: Location Issues

Course subject(s) Module 3. Introduction to Location Issues

In the second part of this course we discuss the location issues of photovoltaic systems. We will start with the solar irradiance and the different components of irradiance on earth. You will learn to define the position of the sun in the sky. We’ll use this to calculate the optimal tilt angle and orientation for solar modules for any position on earth. We will then discuss landscape survey, where you learn to predict the influence of surrounding area on the annual PV system performance. Finally, you will be introduced to some advanced irradiance modelling techniques.
