3.2.1 Introduction to Adaptive Reuse Functional and Technical Feasibility

Course subject(s) 3. Adaptive Reuse Management

Introduction 3.2

Module 3.2 is about functional and technical feasibility of adaptive reuse. In the full course on edX, you will learn to determine the adaptation potential of a building, in terms of its functional and technical feasbility, by completing two assignments making use of the Conversion meter. Such a tool can be applied to any building that you are considering for adaptation, it’s a great management tool to be used in the design and feasibility phase!

In assignment 3.2A we want you to do a short exercise with the Conversion meter first, so you can learn how to use it. Because we can imagine the tool and information can be a little bit overwhelming, we want you to do practise with the Conversion meter by applying it to a building that you already know.

In assignment 3.2B you will apply the Conversion meter to the real life case of Westplantsoen building in Delft, for which we will provide you with all necessary information.

Once you have learned how to use and apply the Conversion meter, and understand the adaptation potential of a building, you have completed some important steps before designing an adaptive reuse concept, which will be done in module 3.3.
