3.3.1 Introduction to Oscillation

Course subject(s) Module 3: Waves

Simple harmonic motion was introduced in the previous unit for the very specific case of the harmonic oscillator. In this unit, we will dive into more detail for such oscillations.

Not only the position, but also the velocity and acceleration of these simple harmonics will be discussed. Harmonic motion can be used to describe various real life applications, such as molecular vibrations, a simple pendulum or even the movement of a bungee jumper, but most importantly the concepts learned in this unit can be applied to solve much more complex systems that will be introduced in the remainder of this module.
