6.1.2 Reading material: Personal Lessons

Course subject(s) 6. Recap of Managing Building Adaptation

Reading Material 6.1

The following reading material helps you to draw personal lessons in a structured and context-sensitive manner. The reading material deliberates on the lesson-drawing methodology and PESTLE-analysis.

How can I possibly draw lessons about sustainability measures and managerial tools for building adaptation for my own context? An important aspect when drawing lessons from one context to another context is the level of lesson-drawing. Ideas and tools from other contexts can be either applied directly as a transplantation or used as inspiration. The likelihood of transfer of both application types is related to contextual differences and similarities.

How can I possibly make sense of the context for building adaptation in my own country? When you want to draw lessons, it is always essential to take the context into account. Not all ideas, concepts, solutions and tools can be easily adopted in another place, there are contextual differences and similarities. You can make sense of such contextual differences and similarities in a categorized way by using a PESTLE-analysis. A PESTLE-analysis consists of Political, Economic, Social-cultural, Technological, Legal and Environmental factors. The elements and factors of this analysis tool are described in the reading material as well. If you want to, you can search the internet for examples of PESTLE-analyses.
