Hans is living in our modern environment where people are living longer and longer. In his book ‘Growing old without being old’ Rudi Westendorp describes this rising life expectancy and the changing ways in which we age:

Kwaku lives in the north of Ghana. The study into ageing here was initiated by Dr. Hans Meij. His thesis en particularly the introduction in which the anthropological background is set out is a good start for those interested in the research area  in Ghana.
