De basisprincipes die tijdens de vorige lezing zijn geïntroduceerd zullen nu worden toegepast op het studiegebied Ijsselmonde. Verschillende typen relaties tussen de basistopografie, bodem, watersysteem en nederzetting zullen worden toegelicht met behulp van voorbeelden van Goederede, Dordrecht en Rotterdam. Daarna concentreert de lezing zich op de ontwikkeling van het landschap rond Ijsselmonde en Rotterdam. Verschillende landschapstypen, nederzettingen en polders komen aan bod. Het laatste deel van de lezing gaat in op de basisprincipes van veldverkenning en landschapsanalyse.
