Centrifugal dredge pumps – 1

This article is the first part in a series of articles which appeared in successive issues of Ports and Dredging and which deal with various subjects connected with centrifugal dredgepumps. It discusses three technical features of the centrifugal pump as produced for dredging purposes.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 2

This article goes over the characteristics of dredgepumps with reference to a number of theoretical principles based on the transport of water.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 3

This article shows several examples of dredge pumps, one with a diesel engine (via an electric or hydraulic shaft), one with a “constant-power” drive system and one that is driven by a non-synchronous motor fed from the ship’s supply.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 4

This article deals with the characteristics of pipelines and then proceeds to discuss the positions of the working points and the working range of a pumping installation, and the phenomenon of cavitation.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 5

This article discusses the output curves of dredgepump installations.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 6

This article goes over the characteristics of a diesel engine in a dredge pump.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 7

This article talks about the theory of the submerged dredgepump, its applications and the design of compact, electrically-driven units.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 8

This article deals with the effect of using two or more pumps connected in a series, based on a multi-pump installation in the dredger.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 9

This article talks about the use of intermediate, or booster, stations in the delivery pipeline.

Centrifugal dredge pumps – 10

This article discusses the location of the booster in the pipeline.
