4.1.1 Introduction

Course subject(s) Module 4. Evaluation of city logistics

In this module we’ll be learning about evaluation methods from our partners from the Land of the Rising Sun. Professor Eiichi Taniguchi and Associate Professor Ali Gul Qureshi from Kyoto University. Both have vast experience in research and evaluation of city logistics in Japan.

The topic of an evaluation is extremely important. In our planning and learning, we need to know what is the extent of the issues we are facing in the city, what solutions may reduce those impacts, and what actually worked in practice. Recall how in Week 2’s Systems Approach the action of “Conducting Surveys” is a feature of “Define Problems”, “Predict Effects” and “Review Performance”. In this week, we’ll go in detail on how this can be done. This will be illustrated with a small case study. In the last section, we will also have a graded recap quiz, and the chance to interact with your coursemates in the forums!
