Design project - Distribution network
In the design project, a drinking water distribution network for the town of Safi (Yemen) will be designed,
with the help of a distribution network calculation program (ALEID or EPANET).

Project explanation (lecture) and description
In the design project, a drinking water distribution network for the town of Safi (Yemen) will be designed,
with the help of a distribution network calculation program (ALEID or EPANET).
In the introducion lecture the design project is explained: video (27:25 min) / slides.
Further information is given in the project description.
Each student recieves for the design project an individual data set combination.
ALEID program and manuals
The distribution network calculation program ALEID consists of the following items:
- manual ALEID
- addendum manual ALEID
- setup file ALEID (Student edition) (for installation on Windows PC).
The setup file installs the latest ALEID version. The presented manuals are written for the older version, but are still applicable. Newer items are more or less self explanatory.
NOTE: When downloading the setup file, the file extension sometimes changes to a number.
In this case the extension of the downloaded file should be change to "exe". Afterwards this renamed files should be runned. When installing the program choose "workstation" .

ALEID input files for the design project:
These files constitute a 'running' model, but do't give any relevant results.
Tests (optional) - network calculations
Optional tests to get familiar with elements in hydraulic network calculations (ALEID).
The tests for network calculations consist of 8 questions (or assignments) and answers.
