The exercise below gives you an opportunity to examine if you are able to calculate the shear stress distribution in a simple beam profile. See if you are able to apply the shear formula on your own to solve the simple problem.
Shear Stress Distribution in a Beam with a Rectangular Section
A simply supported beam with a rectangular cross section is subjected to a transverse load P at its midspan, as illustrated below. Determine the shear stress distribution through the depth of the beam section at z = 0.25L (quarter-span from A).
